The updated MG Hector was spied testing multiple times on Indian roads and now the SUV has been caught testing again. Since the SUV was extensively covered, it’s hard to tell anything about its new design. But its upright silhouette looks similar to the existing model.
As previously mentioned, the upright silhouette looks similar to the existing model. We expect no changes in terms of dimensions but since this will be the first facelift for the Seltos, what we can confirm is that the model will be getting redesigned front and rear bumpers.
The updated Hector will also feature a massive front grille with new diamond-studded inserts, with the MG logo sitting in the upper middle part of the grille. The design of the LED DRLs and the headlights will remain the same, it continues to have sleek DRLs with headlamps and fog lamps assembly mounted on the bumper.
There are no apparent changes to the side profile and moving on to the back, the taillamp assembly looks assembly is same as the current generation but might get new LED inserts.
Talking about the cabin, the layout is expected to remain the same as before but it gets a slanted 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system – the largest in any production car in India.
Apart from that, the SUV will get a revised dashboard design with new horizontal AC vents, and a centre console that gets a new flowing design, along with a new gear lever.
The updated MG Hector is also expected to get Level-2 ADAS tech which includes lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and lane departure warning.
Mechanically no changes are expected, the SUV will be offered with two 143hp, 1.5-litre petrol engines – one with mild-hybrid technology – and a Fiat-derived 2.0-litre multijet turbo Diesel engine which produces 170 bhp of power.
The 2022 MG Hector is likely to be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh-2 lakh more than the current model. When launched, the SUV continues to compete with Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
