Varanasi-bound Vande Bharat express suffers 'jammed wheel'; passengers shifted to Shatabdi express rake | Varanasi News

LUCKNOW: Jinx of Vande Bharat express continued for third day–this time during New Delhi-Varanasi journey on Saturday morning, when one of the wheel of the train was jammed. Fortunately, on duty ground staff detected the fault and alerted the railway operations control to halt the train which was cruising over 100kmph.
The train was halted at around 7:20am at Wair Railway station (Bulandshahr) which is 67 km away from New Delhi.
Later, after inspection of the train wheel by the onboard technical staff, Vande Bharat express was taken 20 km further to Khurja railway station at control speed. At around 12:40pm, the passengers of Vande Bharat express were shifted to Shatabdi express rake which was brought from New Delhi.

Speaking to TOI, Himanshu Upadhayay, the chief public relation officer of North Central railway (NCR) said, “Vande Bharat express (Train no. 22436) suffered bearing defect in traction motor of C8 coach between Dankaur and Wair stations. The bearing jam was rectified with assistance of NCR team. However, due to development of a flat tyre of 80 mm, the train has been moved at a restricted speed of 20 kmph up to Khurja. Replacement rake, departed from New Delhi at 10:45 am for Khurja.”

He said, “The technical fault was first detected by gateman Shazeb and pointsman Brajesh Kumar. Duo informed station master Dankaur Brijesh Kumar who then acted to halt the train by deactivating overhead power supply.”

Due to power cut of overhead wire 12488 Seemanchal express which was behind Vande Bharat express was also brought to halt.

“All the 1,068 passengers have been shifted to Shatabdi express rake to continue their further journey under the supervision of a joint team of six officers of NR and NCR headed by ADRM operation Delhi. The same rake will be used to bring those passengers who have booked tickets for New Delhi from Varanasi in evening,” said CPRO.

According to railway, a probe has been called in the matter and since the Vande Bharat express rake belongs to NR New Delhi, it will investigated by them also.
In last two days, Vande Bharat express between Gandhinagar to Mumbai suffered cattle run over which damaged it’s nose twice.
