The police said in its first pamphlet filed in court that the bridge was supported on cables, which by law should have oiled and greased cables, but the company did not do much. There was terrible waste where the cables were broken. Had the cable been repaired, the accident might not have happened. Police said there was no documentary evidence of what the company had done in repairing the bridge.
