Sadashiv was worshiping, while one day a saint came there and was pleased with his devotion and gave a boon. As a result they composed texts in Sanskrit and acquired a unique reputation. When Sadashiv was about to pass away, he called his two sons and nephew Sivananda on the bed and asked, “Do you want Lakshmi or Saraswati?” Meanwhile his sons asked for Lakshmi.

But Sivananda said, give what you think fit. Hearing this, uncle Sadashiv felt happy and preached the Panchakshari Mantra to his nephew Shivananda and asked him to worship Ramnath Ishta. Shivananda accepted his uncle’s words and performed Bhakt and Bhagavata stories of Lord Shiva.

Meanwhile in 1622 CE he was meditating near the temple of Devi Amba on the banks of the river Narmada. The sun was about to set. Mataji appeared in the southern direction as if Madi’s kanku was falling from the sky. Overwhelmed by the vision, Swami Sivananda composed an aarti of Mataji on the banks of the Narmada river at that time.
