What was written in the letter?
The letter states that, ‘December 1, 2022 and December 5, 2022 have been completed in two phases. There are reports that polling staff and other staff engaged for election-related work have not received the remuneration money even though a period of one month has passed since the completion of the assembly elections. Therefore, to ensure from your level that the Presiding Officer, Polling Officer and all other staff engaged for election related work are paid their remuneration money within 10 days without fail and that after payment of the money no more remuneration money is outstanding, a certificate dated January 15, 2023. Please send by The Election Officers of the Legislative Assembly Constituency are requested to submit a consolidated certificate to that effect to the District Election Officer and all the District Election Officers here.
Allowances are given as per rules
Usually in the month in which the elections are over. In subsequent months, along with the salary, the employees are paid the allowances given to them as per government rules for the extra work they have done. The state election commission has written a letter to pay the allowances of all these employees by January 15, as the allowances to be paid to the employees who have done the election work in this time’s Gujarat assembly elections have not yet been paid.
