At least nine Palestinians were killed and at least 97 injured in a rare daytime arrest operation by Israeli troops in the West Bank’s Nablus. Israeli forces fired tear gas at Palestinians, who burned tyres and pelted stones and military vehicles. The clashes that broke out during the Israeli army’s raid were one of the bloodiest in over nearly a year of fighting. A 72-year-old man was among those killed. In a veiled threat, the Hamas militant group warned Israel saying that ‘it was running out of patience’.
