Dr Prathap C Reddy built India’s first private, corporate hospital, 40 years ago – the Apollo in Chennai. Now, as he turns 90, he looks back on a legacy that comprises over 70 hospitals, more than 10,000 beds and 400 clinics across India’s largest cities, with additional teaching facilities, and tie-ups with partner hospitals overseas. The corporate health care industry, meanwhile, is growing rapidly. Here, Dr Reddy talks about how it all started, and what continues to drive him after all these years.
