Vladimir Putin’s closest ally Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has hinted at joining Russia’s war in Ukraine. Lukashenko said his country would join Russia’s offensive in Ukraine only if Kyiv attacks first. Tensions are mounting at the Ukraine-Belarus border amid fears of a spring offensive. Last year, Belarus allowed Moscow to use its territory to send troops into Ukraine in February. Belarusian troops have not fought in the war but have stepped up military training with Russia.
