U.S. 'desperate' to hold talks after Putin freezes N-treaty; 'Can sit & talk...' | Times Of Ahmedabad

The United States is seeking to hold talks and discuss implementation of the New START nuclear arms control treaty with Russia. Speaking to the Washington Post, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said that the U.S. would like to get back to mutual inspections and sit at a table to discuss implementation of the treaty. The latest signal of discussing the treaty with Russia comes just days after President Vladimir Putin halted Moscow’s participation in the treaty. U.S. President Joe Biden called Russia’s move a ‘big mistake’.
