West tries to cash on Modi's 'dosti' with Putin; UK says India 'Important' amid Ukraine war | Times Of Ahmedabad

As sanctions and weapons supplies fail to stop Russia President Vladimir Putin’s missile barrage in Ukraine, the West has turned to India for help.The United Kingdom is the latest to shower praise on “Global Player” India. UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that India’s G20 Presidency comes at an “incredibly important time” when the world is battling the Ukraine crisis. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who has firmly put out New Delhi’s stand on Russia at the global stage despite the West’s pressure, was also lauded by the UK Minister. Remember, India and Russia share a deep and long-standing relationship, which the West wants to cash in on by pushing New Delhi to coax Putin.
