Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday said her brother, Rahul Gandhi, has never been afraid nor will he ever be after a court in Gujarat’s Surat held him guilty of criminal defamation. Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two-year imprisonment for his remark ahead of the 2019 national polls about the Modi surname.

In a tweet in Hindi, Priyanka Gandhi said the government machinery is scared and trying to suppress Rahul Gandhi’s voice. “He has lived speaking the truth and will continue to speak the truth. Will continue to raise the voice of the people of the country. The power of truth and the love of crores of countrymen are with him.”
Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren accused the Union government of targeting non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders through conspiracies while calling it a concern for democracy.
In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi cited Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence. “My religion is based on truth and non-violence. Truth is my God and non-violence is the means to attain it.”
BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia said no one is above the law while calling Rahul Gandhi irresponsible.
