Indian film starring Rani Mukherji upsets Norway; Oslo protests 'factual inaccuracies' | Times Of Ahmedabad

Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji’s “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway,’ a film based on an Indian couple who fought the Norwegian government for their kids’ custody, has drawn a sharp response from the country. The Norwegian Ambassador to India claims ‘factual inaccuracies’ in the film. In a statement by the Embassy, Norway alleges that the portrayal of the foster system in the country is not right. The statement says that the child welfare system is a matter of responsibility and is not a money-making entity. The film “Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway’ follows the story of an Indian immigrant couple whose two children were removed from their care by the Norwegian foster system. While taking away Sagarika Chatterjee’s children in 2011, the Norwegian government claimed, among other things, that she fed her children using her. After a diplomatic row between the two countries, the Norwegian authorities handed custody of the children to their uncle, enabling him to bring them back to India.
