Sepoy Pawan Kumar was killed in action on Tuesday during an encounter in Kashmir. Army said the soldier ‘overpowered’ a militant in Padgampora village of Pulwama district. In the fighting, the slain suffered grievous injuries and succumbed in hospital. The army said that the slain jawan hails from Rampur tehsil of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. While one soldier was killed, another sustained injuries during the gunfight, officials said. Two militants were also killed in the operation which lasted for several hours on Tuesday.
