Delhi-Rera order stalls registration of properties
The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) directed all sub-registrars to stop registering new properties in Delhi that contravened the maximum number of dwelling units permitted under the Unified Building Bye Laws for Delhi, 2016 (UBBL). RERA also instructed civic bodies not to clear building plans with more than the allowable number of dwelling units according to plot size. The sub-registrars are awaiting guidelines from the divisional commissioner’s office before registering properties. This order is likely to impact constructions in unauthorised colonies, builder floors, and planned localities.
The world’s attention is on Gaza, and Ukrainians worry war fatigue will hurt their cause
Donations for Ukraine’s armed forces have slowed down due to the global attention shifting towards the Israel-Hamas conflict. Ukrainians fear that this trend, combined with global fatigue and limited resources, will result in less aid for their military. The Ukrainian counteroffensive has progressed slowly, and additional funding from the US is jeopardized due to political fights. The European Union is also unable to provide promised munitions. Russian President Putin benefits from the spotlight being taken off Ukraine. Despite the decline in international donations, the Way to Ukraine fund has collected almost $147,000, with donations from within Ukraine exceeding those from abroad. However, the war in Ukraine is no longer a priority on the international agenda. Ivan Bezdudnyi believes that the level of attention will remain after the interest in the Israel-Hamas conflict subsides.
UP set to unveil plan to revive stalled projects
The UP government is expected to announce a rehabilitation package soon for legacy stalled projects, benefiting realtors and homebuyers. The package, based on recommendations by the Amitabh Kant-led expert panel, is likely to include a rescheduling scheme for settling dues in instalments. It is also expected to have a co-developer policy for completing stuck flats and an extended ‘zero period’ for waiving interest and penalties. The package aligns with the Kant panel’s suggestions and aims to benefit approximately 2 lakh homebuyers in Noida. A decision is also pending regarding the delinking of registries from land dues payment.
