An active cadre of a militant outfit of Manipur, United Tribal Liberation Army (SK Thadou group), was arrested with arms in Assam’s Cachar district on Saturday, reports BB Goswami.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Assam Police and Assam Rifles launched an operation in Khasia Punjee Ghat area of Cachar near the Manipur border and apprehended Henlenmang Lhouvum.A 32mm pistol , a magazine with five rounds of ammunition and a mobile handset were seized from his possession, police said.
Manipur is one of the worst insurgency-hit states with more than 30 militant outfits, belonging to various ethnic groups, operating in the state.
