Ahmedabad: A 26-year-old man from Hebatpur village was found dead on a farm near his house on Wednesday.
Bodakdev police on Saturday evening registered a case of murder after a postmortem report confirmed that the man, identified as Jayesh Bharwad, was killed by strangulation and blow to his head.
According to the FIR filed by his father Ramesh Bharwad, 53, a resident of Mandavvalo Vaas in Hebatpur village, Jayesh raised cattle and would spend his nights in a shed near his home to watch over the cattle.The FIR also stated that Jayesh had married just six months ago and that his wife, Nisha Bharwad, still lived with her parents.
Jayesh reportedly left for the cattle shed on Tuesday night but didn’t return home the next morning. Ramesh’s multiple calls to him went unanswered.
His family looked in the cattle shed but did not find him. A family member, who later went to the farm near the shed to feed birds, found Jayesh in an unresponsive state, the FIR stated.
Jayesh was brought home where the family doctor called to check him declared him dead. Ramesh stated that they did not find any injury marks on Jayesh’s body but informed the police as the death looked suspicious.
Bodakdev police registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for to Sola Civil Hospital for postmortem examination, which revealed that Jayesh had died of strangulation and injury on the head. Police then registered a complaint of murder against an unknown person.

1 leopard found near actor’s farm, another triggers scare
Two leopards were sighted on the north-west fringes of Bengaluru. One was near Kuduregere in Bengaluru Urban and the other near Soladevanahalli in Bengaluru Rural. The latter was seen close to the agricultural farm of veteran actor Leelavathi, where there has been VIP movement. Leopards have been spotted there for the past two days and forest officials have been alerted. CCTV footage shows a leopard prowling near the farm gate. Cages have been deployed at conflict locations and the officials will install one near the farmhouse. Pugmarks and other signs of the leopard have been noticed.
