NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah questioned the silence of the INDIA blog over the mega cash haul from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, asserting that that the puzzling quiet does help explain the real reason behind the opposition’s allegation about the misuse of central agencies.
On a day when the value of the cash seized from Sahu’s business premises in Odisha and Jharkhand was put at Rs 318 crore, Shah said, “I am very surprised. After independence, such a large amount of cash has been seized from an MP’s house. Crores of rupees have been recovered but the whole INDI alliance is silent on this corruption. I understand Congress is silent ascorruption is in their nature but JD(U), RJD, DMK and SP all are sitting silently,” adding that the silence has exposed the intent of those who accused PM Narendra Modi of misusing central agencies.
“The campaign was launched because of the fear that it would bring out all the dark secrets linked to their corruption. That is why opposition leaders, beginning with Rahul Gandhi levelled allegations against the PM,” Shah said, stressing that the fight against corruption that began after Modi’s election as PM would continue. “But BJP’s fight has been against corruption and BJP will make every possible effort to create public awareness against corruption among the people,” the home minister said.
The haul of cash has also given wing to Modi’s continuing assertion to eradicate corruption. Modi took a sw-ipe at the opposition parties for questioning the probe agencies for action against those accused of involvement in corruption which include a large number of prominent politicians.
“Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee,” the PM had said after the income tax department made recoveries of cash from different locations belonging to the Congress MP, who was active in Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra”.
Joining the party’s prominent leaders asking uncomfortable questions from Congress, BJP president Nadda, in a post on X, said, “Brother, both you and your leader Rahul Gandhi will have to answer. This is the new India, here people will not be allowed to be exploited in the name of the royal family. You will get tired running, but the law will not leave you.”
Asserting strong action in the case, Nadda said, “If Congress is the guarantee of corruption then Modi ji is the guarantee of action against corruption, every penny looted from the public will have to be returned,” Nadda said.
