Karnataka: Unscheduled power cuts irk citizens
Unscheduled power cuts and fluctuations in voltage have become a new problem in Karnataka despite efforts to meet the surge in power demand. Citizens are frustrated with the increasing number of power outages, even in areas with improved energy supply. The engineers attribute the outages to the increased load factor on the existing infrastructure. The power transmission infrastructure has not been able to keep up with the doubled power consumption in Bengaluru, leading to tripping and breakdown of lines. However, the engineers and technical staff are quick to respond and restore power supply in minutes.
