Mumbai: The MSRTC management has announced a new UPI payment system for paying fares. “Passengers can pay their journey ticket fare to the conductor via mobile phone directly to the MSRTC bank account,” a spokesperson said. Passengers of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) can now pay for their bus tickets digitally using the new UPI payment system. The conductors have been provided with an Android electronic ticket issuing machine that generates a QR code for passengers to scan and make digital payments while on board. In case of any payment errors or deduction without ticket generation, passengers can contact the helpline at 8800688006. MSRTC operates over 14,000 buses and serves more than 55 lakh daily commuters in the state.

UPI limit for healthcare & education payments hiked to 5 lakh
The RBI increased the UPI transaction limit to Rs 5 lakh for hospitals and education services. The limit for recurring digital payments without second-factor authentication was raised to Rs 1 lakh for mutual fund subscription, insurance premium, and card bills. The need to enhance the limit for transactions over Rs 15,000 was expressed due to lagging adoption. The RBI also announced the creation of a repository for fintechs to store information about their products, technology, and financial details. The repository aims to be operational by April 2024.
