Homeless People: 2,564 ‘Homeless’ People Found to Have Homes in Ahmedabad: AMC Drive | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: AMC recently conducted a drive to identify homeless people sleeping on footpaths and roadsides. The goal was to relocate them to designated night shelters. During this drive from September 1 to December 4, AMC teams identified 4,173 such people in various areas. However, to their surprise, 2,564 people owned homes near to where they slept.
These people were made aware of the associated risks and were persuaded by officials to sleep indoors.The remaining 1,612 people, who were genuinely homeless, were directed to nearby night shelters. TNN

Five homeless people shot in Las Vegas: Police
Five people were shot, one fatally, in a Las Vegas homeless encampment. The shooting occurred on the city’s east side. Two homeless people were killed and three were wounded. The incident is not believed to be related to recent shootings in Los Angeles. The United States has experienced over 500 mass shootings this year.
