It has been seven days, BJP can't pick a CM, says Ashok Gehlot | India News

JAIPUR: Outgoing chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday targeted the BJP over the delay in announcing the CM picks for three Hindi heartland states. “For seven days now, they (BJP) have not been able to select a CM; I want them to take a decision quickly,” he said while speaking to reporters in New Delhi.
Gehlot was in Delhi to attend a party meeting called for evaluating the party’s performance in the recent Rajasthan assembly polls.
He said the BJP is exposed. “You people are not able to decide the chief minister for seven days and you talk that there is discipline in our party. If Congress had not selected a CM for this long, then they (BJP) would have shouted a lot by now,” he added.
Gehlot said that he had to give ‘no objection’ to an NIA probe in the Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi murder case which should have been done by the new CM. The governor has made me the acting CM, till the new CM takes oath, I had to make the decision.
Gehlot further accused the BJP of winning the assembly election in the state by raising religious issues and polarising people.
“They polarised the polls; they brought issues like triple talaq, the abrogation of Article 370, the Kanhaiya Lal murder, and propagated lies that Muslims were given Rs 50 lakh and Hindus only Rs 5 lakh compensation. It is not said that the decision for NIA investigation was taken that very night the incident took place. Its investigation has not been completed yet. If we had a case investigated by the state police, it is possible that the accused would have been punished by now. They won the election by spreading lies,” said Gehlot.
Gehlot said the BJP had no issue during the elections and only worked to provoke. These are the people who kill democracy. They are flouting the Constitution. ED, and CBI are misusing income tax. While elections were going on, they entered the residence of Congress state president. Gave notice to Vaibhav Gehlot and called him for questioning. They know how to disturb the other side, he alleged. However, he added that they would cooperate with the new government.
