HYDERABAD: A former officer on special duty (OSD) of ex-minister of Telangana Talasani Srinivas Yadav and four others were booked in a criminal case on Saturday for allegedly destroying documents and damaging CCTV cameras and furniture by trespassing into the state’s animal husbandry department office here.
Nampally police said a watchman at the office was on his routine rounds on Friday evening when he found the door of ex-OSDKalyan Kumar’s room ajar.Once the watchman entered the room, he was shocked to find the place ransacked and several files strewn on the floor.
The CCTV cameras on the office premises were found broken, while the cables of the digital video recorder (DVR) were disconnected. “On verification, I came to know that Kalyan, computer operators Mohan and Elijah, and attenders Venkatesh and Prasanth came to the office. I suspect that Kalyan, with the help of the other four, might have taken away some documents,” the watchman said in his complaint.
When cops landed at the office, they found several documents and papers torn and some stuffed in polyethene bags. “The room was in a mess. When we tried to contact director of animal husbandry Ram Chander, he did not respond despite several calls,” a officer said.
Nampally police registered a criminal case under IPC sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50), 448 (punishment for house trespass) and 477 (fraudulent cancellation, destruction, etc. of will, authority to adopt or valuable security).
A similar attempt was made by unknown persons allegedly to steal documents from the education department’s office in the vicinity of LB Stadium in the city. Police reached the spot on Saturday night but no case was registered yet.
It may be recalled that a group of student union leaders of Osmania University had on Wednesday intercepted a vehicle, which was transporting files and furniture belonging to former excise minister V Srinivas Goud from his office in Ravindra Bharathi. An officer confirmed that furniture & other items had been shifted from the government office.
