Madhya Pradesh: 2023 Madhya Pradesh assembly polls result: 10 biggest and 10 narrowest wins | India News

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday had a big win in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. Two out of the three Union ministers from the BJP who were running in the elections won, but one didn’t do so well.
Even though the Congress had prominent leaders like former chief ministers Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh campaigning for them, they couldn’t give tough competition to the BJP.
As of now, the BJP has already won 137 seats in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly and is leading in 28 more seats. The BJP’s performance is quite strong in these elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party won the assembly elections in 2003 under Uma Bharti. The party scored victories in subsequent contests in 2008 and 2013 but lost to Congress in 2018. The BJP remained out of power from December 2018 to March 2020 when Congress leader Kamal Nath became chief minister.
However, the saffron party returned to power in March 2020 under Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who became the chief minister for the first time in 2005. He went on to become the longest-serving chief minister in the state.
