Newlyweds among 5 of a family killed as car collides with truck in Chhattisgarh | India News

RAIPUR: Five members of a family, including the bride and groom, were killed when their car collided head-on with a truck in Janjgir-Champa district in Chhattisgarh on Sunday morning. Four people, including the bride, died on the spot while the groom succumbed to his injuries at the Pamgarh community health center.
The car was heading from Pamgarh to Akaltara when the accident took place.The truck driver fled the spot after the accident, police said. Vijay Agrawal, SP of Janjgir-Champa, said Shubham Soni owned a jewellery shop in Janjgir. He said after the accident, smoke started emanating from the car and the fire brigade was called to the scene.
The SP said they have since arrested the truck driver, Ravi Kumar Sarthi, 24, a resident of Lakhipara, Akaltara. tnn
