SHAMLI: A special Pocso court in Shamli district has handed down a life sentence, maintaining it would be imprisonment till his last breath”, to a man found guilty of sexually assaulting his 14-year-old stepdaughter. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 23,000 on the accused.
On August 14, 2023, the minor girl filed a complaint accusing her stepfather of physical assault and sexual harassment, said Sanjay Chauhan, the district government counsel.Subsequently, police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Pocso Act.
Following the survivor’s medical examination and her statement being recorded in court, police arrested the accused on August 15.
