At IFFI 2023 press conference last week, Rishab had said that he doesn’t want to be the person who leaves the Kannada film industry after giving one hit with Kantara.
When asked if he would be interested in doing Hindi films, Rishab said, “After the success of Kantara, I received offers not only from Hindi films but from several other languages besides Kannada. There are many beautiful opportunities that I am missing because I feel I should not leave the Kannada film industry. It’s a sentiment. ‘When a film becomes a hit, this industry is being destroyed, it should not be like this.’”
‘Animal’: Honest Public Review of Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna’s movie
On Friday, a fan apologised for misconstruing Rishab’s statement after receiving severe backlash. “My sincere apologies to @shetty_rishab this is what he actually said. He meant that he doesn’t want to be called a person who’s leaving the industry after delivering one hit. It does not imply “I’m not leaving Kannada industry like others”. Lot of difference,” read the tweet.
Respoding to the fan’s tweet, Rishab tweeted, “No problem, ☺️ finally someone understood what I really meant to say.”
For the uninitiated, Rashmika and Rakshit Shetty were engaged in July 2017, but unfortunately, the engagement was later called off in September 2018. The decision to end their engagement was mutual, and both actors cited personal reasons for the separation.
Rakshit happened to be the close friend of Rishab Shetty. Rashmika and Rakshit shared screen space together in Kirik Party, directed by Rishab. The movie was both a critical and commercial success. Following the breakup, both Rakshit and Rashmika continued to focus on their respective careers in the film industry.
Rishab recently announced the prequel of Kantara. The makers of Kantara Chapter 1 unveiled the film’s teaser which received good responses from the audience. Rashmika, on the other hand, is currently seen in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal which released this Friday. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor among several others.
