Sam Bahadur released on December 1, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s juggernaut called Animalwhich has captivated the audiences in more ways than one.Sam Bahadur saw a rise in its collection over the weekend, but it seems to be struggling to pass the Monday test.
The Meghna Gulzar directorial opened to about Rs 6.25 crore on Friday and over Saturday and Sunday it added Rs 9 crore and Rs 10.3 crore respectively to its total. But as per early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film saw a nearly 65 per cent drop in its collection on Monday. It earned only Rs 3.5 crore, taking the total of the film to Rs 29.05 crore.Sam Bahadur is produced at the budget of Rs 55 crore and over the next few days it would be interesting to see how much the film will be able to recover from the box office. The film will not end up losing money in the long run, thanks to the sale of various rights like satellite and digital.
Sam Bahadur is the story of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s four decade long journey with the Indian Army and his key role in the 1971 war of Bangladesh’s liberation. The film also stars Fatima Sana Sheikh as PM Indira Gandhi and Sanya Malhotra as Silloo Manekshaw.. The year has been a mixed bag for Vicky. While he delivered a success with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, his last film The Great Indian Family tanked without a trace. Post Sam Bahadur, he will be seen in Dunki with Shah Rukh Khan and he also has Laxman Utekar’s Chaava with Rashmika Mandana and Akshaye Khanna on the cards.
