Mizoram‘s assembly election verdict won’t be known until Monday, with the Election Commission on Friday giving in to pressure from the church, community organisations and political parties to postpone the vote count by a day to enable the Christian-majority state to attend Sunday service.
Counting in the other four states that went to polls between November 7 and 30 – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana – will take place as scheduled on Sunday.

The order came hours after the Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee organised a public gathering in the state capital of Aizawl and passed a two-point resolution.
