Film director Imtiaz Ali recently said that he cast Diljit Dosanjh in ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ because he wanted to save money. Apart from Imtiaz, Diljit Dosanjh in the BTS video, Parineeti Chopra also shared her experiences of working in the film.
First of all, Imtiaz said, ‘In this film, we did not hire one actor for one job. I used to save my money by casting actor and singer Diljit. The thrill of the film is its music.
Imtiaz Ali also revealed how he made live singing possible for Diljit and Parineeti in the film. He said, ‘We built a whole band for him so he was actually singing live which we brought to life on-screen. We called in background musicians with whom Diljit and Parineeti sang for three-four days and during which some things were recorded live.

On playing Amar Singh Chamkila in the film, Diljit said, ‘The story of the film revolves around music and music is God for me. Through this film I have come closer to God, I always felt that there is a presence around us on the sets.
Singing live was challenging: Parineeti
Parineeti, who played the role of Amarjot, wife of Amar Singh Chamkila, said that the experience of singing live for the film was very different. It was on a very high scale and singing and acting on that scale was a very challenging thing for me which I had never done before.
The film’s music director AR Rahman praised Diljit Dosanjh and called him a superstar. Also called Parineeti an underrated singer and said that she is also very talented as a singer.

The movie ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ has released on 12th April on Netflix. The film is based on Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Born in Dhubari, a small village in Ludhiana, Amar composed songs on extramarital affairs, love affairs and husband-wife relationships. His songs were the first choice at weddings in Punjab. Diljit Dosanjh plays Chamkila in the film while Parineeti Chopra plays his wife Amarjot.
