“Maximum sixes this season, yeah!,” Kohli could be heard telling Gayle in the video shared by RCB on social media.
“How much?” Gayle asked.
“37!” replied Kohli, whose four sixes in the 29-ball 47 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took his tally of sixes in the season so far to 37. He now has 708 runs to his credit in 14 innings and has the Orange Cap as this edition’s top run-getter.

RCB defeated CSK in a do-or-die match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to enter the IPL playoffswhere they will now take on third-placed Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. The team winning that match goes on to play the losing team of Qualifier 1, which will feature table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders taking on second-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB managed to bag the fourth and last spot in the playoffs with a 27-run win over CSK, which was enough to have a better net run-rate than the five-time former champions as both the teams ended up with 14 points each.
It was RCB’s sixth consecutive win of the league stage, which completed a remarkable comeback as they had lost seven of their first eight matches this season.
Kohli could be seen having more fun with Gayle in the video, teasing him to become RCB’s ‘Impact Player’ in the next IPL season.
“Kaka, come back next year. Impact Player rule is on now. You don’t have to field anymore. It’s designed for you,” Kohli jokingly told Gayle, who was a reluctant runner on the field during the twilight of his playing career.
Kohli autographed his RCB jersey and gifted it to Gayle with the message: “To Chris (kaka). With love and best wishes.”
