“How we spend our day determines how we spend our life.” This is not us but the American writer Annie Dillard, who is well known all over the world for her fiction and non-fiction books.
Everything he has said is very good. Our whole day schedule tells us how we live our life. Isn’t it happening somewhere that you spend half of your life in the office and can’t find time for yourself? Most people would agree with this 100%.
According to a Gettysburg College study, most of our day is spent at work. An average person spends an average of 90,000 hours at work in their lifetime.
So what do we do with the remaining time? Have you ever thought about this? Most of the people believe that after working in the office from 10 am to 7 pm, they are so tired that they don’t have the courage to do anything else. Some people get busy with other household chores. Especially working women who have to look after their home and children along with the office.
In such a situation, the time after 7 o’clock seems to be over in a moment. We are so engrossed in our work that we forget to take time for ourselves. If we want, we can also make good use of this time after 7 pm.
So, today in the ‘Relationship’ column we will talk about how to spend the remaining time after office. Along with this, we will also know what are the habits after 7 pm that can radically change our lives.

You can do this work instead of sitting in free time
Every minute of your day is considered very important. Everything you do from the time you wake up in the morning to the time you go to sleep at night is useful in some way in your life. Instead of wasting the free time we have, we should think about how we can dedicate the time to ourselves. From sitting quietly and reading a book for 15 minutes a day, many simple yet highly effective habits can greatly improve your life.

Learn these tips in detail in the following pointers –
Mindful reflection
Mindful reflection means thinking about whatever happened during the day. In which you have to think about three things – first, what went well, second, what can be improved and third, express gratitude for the good things. Through this we get to know ourselves, our feelings and thoughts intimately.
In the book ‘How Working Men Spend Their Spare Time’ written by George Esdras Bevans, it is written how you can spend your free time outside your office. In which George has given tips to make good use of free time.
Stay away from social media altogether
Here ‘disconnect’ means staying away from the digital world. In simple terms, it means staying away from all kinds of electronic devices and social media. Digital devices include everything from your phone to your TV and iPad.
We are so engrossed in the digital world all day long that we cannot focus on other things. When you put your electronic devices aside. So you will have time. So after coming from office you should stay away from it for some time.

Make reading your habit
A third good habit is to read at least 5 pages of any book every night if necessary. You can read more if you feel like reading more. But reading five pages a day will develop the habit of reading books.
So, make a habit of reading daily to bring change in your life. Reading 5 pages a day will increase your concentration, you will sleep better, you will get peace and your knowledge will also increase. Just choose the book you like. You can also make tea or coffee with it, and just enjoy reading.
Oh yes, don’t drink tea or coffee if you read a book at night.
Plan the next day in advance
You can plan the next day before going to bed. Often we waste some time of our day thinking about what to wear today, what to eat, what target to achieve in office, what tasks to complete. It will be easier if you decide this a day in advance and write it down.
Spend quality time with a loved one
Always make some time for your family after office. No matter how tired or busy you are. Even a couple of minutes spent with them can be very beneficial for you. Playing games with them, having dinner, sitting together drinking tea, discussing any topic. Due to which the relationship with loved ones in life becomes closer.
Make friends with nature
Spend some time with nature every evening or before going to bed at night. By doing this you will get peace from the tiredness during the day. Make it a habit to walk a few times in the evening or at night. The breeze at night, the beautiful views and the peaceful atmosphere feel truly magical. It can help give you peace of mind and better sleep.
Psychologist Dr. Shreya Pahwa says that if you do any of these practices continuously for 21 days or a month, you will see a change in your lifestyle. You can’t go back to your old lazy habits. These simple practices will not only help you grow physically but also spiritually.
