UW lands two recruits, including Kamiak edge rusher, on important recruiting weekend

Washington enjoyed a productive recruiting weekend, punctuated with two commitments for its 2025 class.

Local three-star edge rusher Victor Sanchez Hernandez Jr., a Kamiak High School standout from Mukilteo, announced his commitment to Washington on Sunday. Minutes later, three-star athlete Dezmen Roebuck announced his pledge to the Huskies.

Coach Jedd Fisch now has nine members of his 2025 recruiting class.

Sanchez Hernandez is the second defensive player and second edge rusher to join the Huskies. Bay Area native Devin Hyde announced his commitment to UW on June 11. Sanchez Hernandez is also the first player from the state of Washington to commit to Washington. UW only landed one local player — Garfield High School’s Rahshawn Clark — during the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound edge rusher chose Washington instead of offers from Utah, Washington State, Oregon State, Boise State, BYU and several service academies.

Sanchez Hernandez is considered the No. 16 player in the state and the No. 113 player at his position by 247Sports.com.

Roebuck, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete from Marana, Ariz., played both sides of the ball for Marana High School. Washington wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings was considered his primary recruiter, meaning Roebuck will likely play wide receiver for the Huskies.

He’s considered the No. 8 player in Arizona and the No. 87 athlete in the country by the 247Sports composite rankings. Roebuck also held offers from Arizona State, UNLV and Portland State.
