Chicken became cheaper in winter but hen is getting more and more expensive, know why

New Delhi. In the winter season, the demand for roasted and fried chicken makes chicken expensive. Apart from weddings, the highest demand is at hotels-restaurants and small fast food corners. But this is the first time that due to demand, hen and not rooster is becoming expensive. That too just double the rate. According to chicken market experts, the price of hen will increase further while there will be a slight change in the rate of rooster. Chicken market expert and UP Poultry Farm Association President Nawab Ali says, “Last year, during these days, the sale of retired hen (hen which has reduced or stopped laying eggs) was between Rs 30 to Rs 40 per kg. But due to the effect of Corona, the same hen is now being sold for Rs 80 per kg. This hen is mostly used in weddings and hotels for making chicken korma. But this year, there are less egg-laying hens, so as long as they are laying eggs, poultry farmers are not selling them. Compared to last year, feed is also a little cheaper, so there is no major risk. Even if it is laying 60 percent eggs, it is not a loss-making deal.

Boiler chicken is eaten roasted and friedHaji Akhlaq, the owner of the restaurant, says that boiler chicken is used for roasted and fried chicken. This is because the meat of boiler chicken is softer than that of hen. However, the chicken has the most flavour.

In October-November, the rate of boiler chicken ranges from 80 to 85 rupees per kg. But before the end of November, the chicks of boiler grow up and the rate of boiler starts decreasing. But in October this year, boiler was sold in bulk for up to 120 rupees per kg. Now today it has come down to 110 rupees per kg. Due to Corona, a large number of chickens have been killed, so there is little hope of the rate decreasing in the future.

Know about boiler chicken business…Experts tell about the complete process of making a farm in this business, if you are starting with 500 chickens then 500 square feet of space is required for it. To make the farm, the width and length of the farm should be 28 feet and 30 feet respectively. Apart from this, keep the height between the farms at least 10 feet and the height of the site 8 feet.

After making the farm, put a net in it so that insects like mosquitoes and flies can be stopped. The farm should be made from east to west. After making the farm, spread a bed of husk or sawdust in it. Spread only husk in winter and rainy season and the thickness of the husk or sawdust should be kept 2.5 inches.

Chickens are given three types of diets, which helps in increasing their weight. These diets are pre-starter, starter and finisher diet. First of all, pre-starter should be given, it contains 24 percent protein which is given for 10 days.

After that, a starter is given which has 22% protein content. It is given till the weight reaches 1 kg in 17-18 days. After that, a finisher diet is given. The protein content in it is 20%.

Many times farmers feed the chickens in the morning and evening, do not do this at all. They should be fed every 8 hours and also given water three times so that they get fresh water. Chicks should be bought from a good hatchery and of good quality. Many types of birds have come to India these days like Hub Bird, Ras Bird. These are not suitable for the Indian climate, hence the poultry farmer should buy only the chicks of Cop Bird.
