Citizens' Leadership Academy applications open in Sandy Springs

Applications have opened for Sandy Springs Citizens’ Leadership Academy, a multi-week program designed to empower and educate residents and businesses within the community.

The Citizens’ Leadership Academy aims to offer a comprehensive and engaging curriculum tailored to foster informed and active citizens, according to a news release. Applications are available online.

The academy aims to provide participants with an opportunity to meet with the mayor, city council, and city staff to learn more about local government, civic responsibility, and community leadership. The 10 courses this year include City Management, Recreation and Parks, Emergency Management and Signature Events.

The current schedule is:

  • Aug. 27: Mayor’s Welcome; City Manager’s Office; City Clerk’s Office
  • Sept. 10: Recreation and Parks; Environmental Stewardship
  • Sept. 24: Police Department; Municipal Court
  • Oct. 8: Public Works Department; Community Development
  • Oct. 22: Finance
  • Nov. 12: Meet Your Councilmembers
  • Dec. 10: Facilities; Information Technology
  • Jan. 14: Performing Arts Center; Special Events
  • Feb. 11: Fire Department; Emergency Management
  • Feb. 25: Communications Department; Economic Development
  • Feb. 18: Graduation Event

Courses will take place at Sandy Springs City Hall and Performing Arts Center. Class size is capped at 30 participants. A $35 fee is due upon confirmation of attendance.
