Extra gestures and gestures proved costly, when the search was done... everyone's eyes were wide open, 4 people including 3 women were arrested

Delhi Airport: The movement of passengers was going on as usual in the arrival hall of Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. At around 1.30 pm, the passengers of Air India flight AI-918 from Dubai were waiting for their baggage at the baggage belt. Then, the Customs Air Preventive officer noticed three young women and a young man waiting for their luggage at the baggage belt.

These four passengers standing silently would sometimes communicate through gestures and sometimes glance towards the exit gate. These four were also keeping a sharp eye on the activities of the Customs Preventive officers standing at the green channel. These four did not know that not only had their antics been noticed by the Customs officers, but the Customs officers had also become suspicious of their activities.

According to a senior officer associated with airport security, after crossing the green channel, the customs officials stopped these four and asked them if they had anything that was not declared. The answer to this question was given as a no with extra gestures. Since, after seeing their gestures, the customs was almost sure that they definitely had something, hence their search was started.

He told that after seeing what was found with them during the search, everyone was shocked. Actually, a very long gold chain and a gold bracelet were recovered from them. The weight of the bracelet and gold chain recovered from their possession was found to be around 1200 grams. The customs officers have estimated the value of the recovered gold to be around Rs 78,58,000.

According to Joint Commissioner (Customs) N Varun Kaundinya, the three women arrested for smuggling gold have been identified as Mehak Agarwal (34 years), Bhavana Agarwal (38 years) and Anshika Goyal (24 years). The arrested youth has been identified as 20-year-old Ansh Goyal. All four of them had arrived at IGI Airport by Air India flight AI-918 from Dubai.

Joint Commissioner N Varun Kaundinya said that the gold recovered from the possession of these four accused has been confiscated under Section 110 of the Customs Act, while all four have been arrested under Section 104 of the Customs Act. Investigation of the case is currently underway.
