Washington: In America, a person found something in the dustbin that was going to make his luck shine. But before his luck could shine, something bad happened to him. Now he is in police custody. That person has a connection with India. Yes, a person of Indian origin is accused of fraudulently usurping a winning lottery ticket worth 1 million dollars in New York. He has been arrested on this charge. The name of the accused is Mir Patel.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said that 23-year-old Mir Patel was arrested on Monday (local time) for theft. The person who bought the ticket has been informed about his win. The lottery ticket was allegedly stolen at a petrol pump in Murfreesboro, Tennessee State, where Patel worked.
According to a report published in an American newspaper, when the person who bought the lottery ticket asked him to scan it to check whether he had won anything or not, he allegedly said that he had won a very small amount. After this, he gave the small amount to the customer and threw it in the garbage. According to the report, when the person left the store, Mir Patel took the lottery ticket out of the dustbin. He scratched the hidden part and found the winning amount written on the ticket and took it to the lottery office but the employees got suspicious.
According to investigator Vic Donohoe, ‘Lottery investigators took video footage from the petrol station’s cameras. Which showed him picking up the ticket from the trash and ‘celebrating in the store after scratching off the front of the ticket. In fact, it contained a prize of 1 million dollars and he was celebrating in this joy.’ After this the sheriff’s office was informed and Patel was arrested. Meanwhile, Craig and Donohoe watched the store’s videos to identify the buyer and tell him about the lottery winnings.
