Anju Prajapati/Rampur: Treatment of children with club foot without surgery has now become possible in Rampur. Now club foot can be treated through plaster without any problem. With this new technique, children can be saved from the pain and complications of surgery. This treatment is being provided free of cost.
The hospital’s doctor, orthopedic surgeon Lakhwinder Singh, said that he has successfully treated more than 150 children so far and he has been working in the district hospital in Rampur for the last one and a half years. He said that through plaster therapy, the feet of children are gradually straightened, which helps them lead a normal life. In this, plaster is applied five to six times. After this, it is suggested to wear special shoes, which have to be worn for 24 hours. With these plasters and shoes, the club foot gradually comes on the backfoot.
On Wednesdays, OPD for children is held in room number 25 of the Limb Center. The Pediatric Orthopedic OPD runs next to the pharmacy. Along with this, club foot as well as other congenital disorders of the feet are being cured with the help of special shoes in the workshop of the Limb Center.
According to doctors, this technique is safe and effective and children get quick relief from it. So far, many children have been successfully treated. This initiative is proving to be a relief especially for those families who want to avoid the expense and risk of operation.
Earlier, surgery was the only option for club foot, but now plaster therapy is the solution to this problem. The hospital administration has formed a special team for this new service, which will carry out this procedure regularly.
