New Delhi: When James Cameron’s film ‘Avatar’s sequel ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ was released in cinemas across the world last month, the magical world of Pandora attracted people to the cinemas. ‘Avatar 2’ has also set a new record by earning huge amounts at the box office. According to media reports, the world wide collection of the film has crossed 2 billion dollars, which is more than 162 billion rupees.
James Cameron’s film created a new history in the world of cinema this weekend. ‘Avatar 2’ was released in December last year. The film has been at number one for the last 6 weekends. According to Box Office Mojo’s report, 2009’s ‘Avatar’ is the highest grossing film in the world.
Now another film of Cameron has joined the $2 billion club. Apart from ‘Titanic’, three other films are part of this club, which include 2015’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
68-year-old James Cameron is the only director whose three films are among the six films that have earned more than $2 billion. If reports are to be believed, the director is planning to release at least three more sequels of ‘Avatar’ in the future. The cast of ‘Avatar 2’ includes stars like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang. The film was released in theaters worldwide on 16 December 2022.
