Prosecutors will seek up to 14 years in prison for twice-convicted labor leader John Dougherty on bribery and embezzlement charges at his sentencing this week. Also sought: an order to force him to contribute to $2.1 million in restitution to Local 98 of the IBEW, the union he led for nearly 30 years.
Biden in town Sunday
President Joe Biden, fresh off a TV interview that played to mixed reviews, will be in Philly Sunday morning to attend a church service before heading to Harrisburg later in the day. Details about which church were not shared by Saturday morning. Biden was originally expected in Philly Friday at a the annual conference of the National Education Association, but a strike by staff led to the trip being cancelled.
