West Indies have equaled the three-match series 1-1 by defeating India by six wickets in the second ODI. West Indies won the toss and invited India to bat first. The Caribbean bowlers proved Captain Hope’s decision right and bundled out Team India for just 181 runs in 40 overs and 5 balls.

Ishan Kishan certainly played a brilliant half-century innings of 55 runs, but the other batsmen had a disappointing performance. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested in this match. In the absence of these two experienced and senior batsmen, the young batsmen could not show any magic with the bat. Shubman Gill contributed 34 runs. Sanju Samson could not capitalize on the opportunity and was out after scoring just 9 runs. Suryakumar Yadav could score only 24 runs. Romario Shepherd and Gudakesh Moti took three wickets each for West Indies. Alzari Joseph got two wickets.

West Indies easily achieved the target of 182 runs for victory by losing only four wickets in 36 overs and 4 balls. Shai Hope played a brilliant captaincy innings of 63 runs. The third and decisive match of the series will be played in Trinidad on Tuesday.

After returning from the West Indies tour, Indian Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has decided to take a break from cricket for a few days. Rahane wants to prepare himself for the South Africa series to be held at the end of the year. For this reason, Rahane has expressed his unavailability to play for Leicestershire in county cricket. Rahane played innings of 89 and 46 runs against Australia in the World Test Championship final. After that he was made the vice-captain on the West Indies tour. However, this tour was not good for Rahane and he could score only three and eight runs in two innings of two Tests.

England fast bowler Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from Test cricket. After the end of the third day’s play during the fifth and final Test of the Ashes series at the Oval, 37-year-old Broad announced that he is playing his last Test match and will say goodbye to Test cricket after this match. Stuart Broad is the second fast bowler to take 600 wickets in Test cricket and the fourth bowler overall. Broad has played 167 Test matches, 121 ODIs and 56 T20 Internationals, in which he has taken 845 wickets.

Broad made his international debut for England at the age of 20 in a T20 match against Pakistan in August 2006. While he played his first Test match against Sri Lanka in 2007. Along with teammate James Anderson, Broad is one of only two fast bowlers to take 600 Test wickets for his country and he took his 150th Ashes wicket in his final match at the Oval this week.

In the Deodhar Trophy, Central Zone defeated North East Zone by eight wickets. Central Zone bowled out North East for 164 runs in 49 overs. Left arm spinner Aditya Sarvate took three wickets. In reply, Central Zone achieved the target of 165 runs for victory by losing only two wickets in 33 overs, thanks to the brilliant half-century innings of Shivam Chaudhary (85) and Yash Dubey (72). This is Central Zone’s first win in four matches. Central Zone is at the fourth position in the six-team tournament.

In another match, South Zone defeated East Zone by five wickets. With the help of excellent half-century innings of 84 runs by Mayank Agarwal and 53 runs by Sai Sudarshan, South Zone achieved the target of 230 runs in the 45th over itself. This is South Zone’s fourth consecutive win and it is at the top of the points table. With three wins in four matches, the East Zone team is in second place.

India’s compound mixed archery team of Aman Saini and Pragati won the gold medal in the ongoing World University Games in China. This is India’s fourth gold medal in this competition. In the thrilling title match played on Sunday, Aman and Pragati defeated Korea’s Sua Cho and Seunghyun 157-156. India is at the fourth position in the table by winning a total of 10 medals including four gold, two silver and four bronze medals so far.

India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav and Koyal Bar won silver medals in the women’s 49 kg weight category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship held in Greater Noida. Gyaneshwari secured second place in the junior category and Koyal in the youth category.

Badminton
India’s young player Lakshya Sen’s challenge in the Japan Open Super 750 badminton tournament has ended. World number 9 and Asian Games champion Indonesia’s Jonathan Christie defeated world number 13 player, 21-year-old Lakshya Sen in a thrilling and tough semi-final match that lasted 68 minutes on Saturday.

Goa Challengers have won the title of the fourth season of Ultimate Table Tennis. In the title match, Goa defeated defending champions Chennai Lions 8-7. This is the first title of the Goa franchise.

Hockey
The Indian women’s hockey team performed brilliantly and defeated host Spain 3-0 on Sunday to win the Spanish Hockey Federation tournament organized on the centenary of the Spanish Hockey Federation. For India, Vandana Kataria scored in the 22nd minute, Monica in the 48th minute and Udita in the 58th minute.
