New Delhi. Defending champions Spain and Germany qualified for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in October by reaching the final of the UEFA European Championship. This tournament is to be played in India. Spain and Germany defeated France and Netherlands respectively in the semi-finals of the European Women’s Under-17 Championship being played in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Now these two teams will clash in the final match to be held on Sunday.

The winner of the third place match between France and Netherlands on Sunday will also be the third team to qualify from Europe for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. FIFA has given three places to Europe for the age group women’s tournament to be held in India.

Germany and Spain will thus join China, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and hosts India, who have already secured their places for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held from October 11 to 30.

Only the African representative team for the 16-team World Cup is yet to be revealed. The final round of African qualifying is yet to be held. The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be played in Bhubaneswar, Margao and Navi Mumbai.
