Dr. Subhash Chandra said that he got the inspiration to become a doctor from his grandfather. He said that his grandfather was a well-known Vaidya of his city to whom people used to come for treatment. He grew up seeing this and due to his grandfather’s respect and fame in the city, it was somewhere embedded in his mind that he too has to become a doctor in future.

Dr. Subhash Chandra completed his MBBS from Aligarh Muslim University in 1984. He then did his MD in General Medicine from the same university in 1987. Later in 1993, Dr. Chandra obtained his advanced degree in Cardiology, DM (Cardiology) from the prestigious AIIMS. He also did his DNB-Cardiology in 1991.

Dr. Subhash Chandra has been the recipient of many awards, such as Sujoy B. Roy Young Investigator Award, Cardiological Society of India, 5th Annual Conference 1989, Col. K.L. Chopra Research Award, Cardiological Society of India, 9th Annual Conference 1993, Young Investigator Award, Cardiological Society of India, 13th Annual Conference 1997. He has been the recipient of many more national and international awards. But Dr. Chandra believes that his greatest contribution to the medical field is his 100 publications.
