Lion Safari will be a hit
The date for bringing the lions will be decided in the meeting of the forest department. These lions will be kept in the lion safari being built in Sajjangarh Biological Park. This project is expected to be completed by November. For now, the lion couple will be kept in the old enclosure of the zoo located in Gulab Bagh. These enclosures have been lying vacant since the construction of the biopark in Sajjangarh in the year 2015.

8 lions together
DFO DK Tiwari said that 8 lions can be kept in the lion safari being built in 26 hectares. The forest department is building a lion safari in Sajjangarh Sanctuary at a cost of Rs 3.45 crore. An enclosure is being built in 26 hectares. It will have a lion holding area and display area. These will have the capacity to keep 8 lions. According to the tender conditions, the construction was to be completed by September. But the work slowed down due to the onset of monsoon season. At present, the work of building a leopard rescue center along with reptile and nocturnal sections is going on in the bio park.

At present two lions have been approved
In February this year, the Central Zoo Authority had given permission to bring two lions from Junagadh Sakkarbagh Zoological Park. Now the forest department will hold a meeting here and finalize the preparations. The department is trying to start the lion safari by the end of the year so that tourism in Udaipur can be promoted.
