He said that any American attack on Russian bases in Ukraine will lead to a Third World War. Former President Dmitry Medvedev is currently the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council. He made this statement on the comments of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski claimed that if Moscow used nuclear weapons in Ukraine, America would attack Russian bases.
Posting on the social media platform X, former President Dmitry Medvedev has criticized Poland’s Foreign Minister Sikorski. He said, ‘Apparently he has decided to scare his masters.’ Medvedev said that unlike Warsaw (the capital of Poland), Washington has been more cautious. The US has not made such threats publicly. He said, ‘Americans targeting our bases means starting a world war and a foreign minister, even the foreign minister of a country like Poland, should understand this.’

Former Russian President Medvedev also referred to recent remarks by Polish President Andrzej Duda about Poland’s willingness to host US nuclear weapons if the opportunity arises under NATO’s sharing mechanism. He warned that Warsaw would not be spared in the event of a nuclear conflict. It would certainly be burnt in the fire of this war. He questioned whether the Polish leadership really wanted this outcome.

In an interview to the British newspaper Guardian, Poland’s Foreign Minister Sikorski expressed doubts about the possibility of a nuclear attack by Russia on Ukraine. He claimed that the US has warned Russia not to launch a nuclear attack. The US has said that if Russia launches any nuclear attack, the US will launch a massive attack on all Russian bases in Ukraine. Sikorski called this warning a credible threat. He also said that China and India have also warned Russia against a nuclear attack.

In an interview to the newspaper, he further argued that Ukraine’s Western allies should allow Kiev to use its weapons to target military sites inside Russia. He said, ‘Russia will not have much choice but to use nuclear weapons.’ Sikorski urged the European Union not to be afraid of escalating tensions and avoid self-imposed sanctions in the Ukraine conflict, leaving Moscow uncertain about the West’s next move.
