Gaurav Gill, a resident of Punjab, India, has been arrested by the US police on charges of murdering 29-year-old Jasveer Kaur. It is being told that he has also injured 20-year-old Gagandeep Kaur in the attack. He is admitted in critical condition in University Hospital Newark. It is being told that the accused had recently arrived in America. He was living in Kent city of Washington state.
According to a CBS News report, the incident took place outside a residential building in Carteret, New Jersey on Wednesday morning. The police arrested the attacker a few hours later. He has been charged with first degree murder, two cases of illegal possession of a weapon, one case of second degree illegal possession of a weapon, and fourth degree case of possessing a high capacity magazine. Accused Gill appeared in Middlesex County Court on Thursday.
Gourav-Gagandeep had prepared together
According to a report published in the Times of India, the accused Gaurav Gill and Gagandeep Kaur knew each other from before. Both of them used to prepare together at the IELTS coaching center in Nakodar, Punjab.

Jasveer Kaur, the woman who was shot dead by Gill, is Gagandeep’s cousin. Gagandeep had recently arrived in the US on a study visa and was staying at Jasveer’s house. Jasveer is a resident of Gorsian near Nurmahal in Punjab. She worked for Amazon in Carteret, New Jersey and her husband is a cab driver, who was out of town at the time of the incident.
The daughter stayed with her and got this fruit
The deceased’s father Kewal Singh told the media, ‘Our daughter kept them with her and helped them in every way. Jasvir was sleeping at the time of the incident. Gagandeep had a fight with the accused outside the house and called Jasvir for help. When Jasvir intervened, the accused fired seven bullets on his face, killing him.’
Both daughter and son-in-law supported
Kewal Singh said that both his daughter and son-in-law were very supportive of Gagandeep. Gagandeep and Gaurav Gill had arrived in the US recently and almost at the same time. His mother said that she did not know Gaurav and did not know if there was any dispute between them.
