Who is Kimberly Cheatle?
Cheatle has been leading the Secret Service since September 2022 and is its 27th director, replacing James M. Murray (May 2019-September 2022). She joined the service in 1995. Prior to her appointment as Secret Service director, she worked with PepsiCo as a senior director of global security. There, she was responsible for security protocols for all of the company’s factories and offices in North America.
Her previous role in the Secret Service was as assistant director of the Office of Protective Operations. Prior to that, Cheatle was the special agent in charge of the organization’s field office in Atlanta. In 2021, President Joe Biden, Trump’s successor in the Oval Office and his most likely opponent in the November election, honored Cheatle with the Presidential Rank Award for exceptional performance. The following year, Biden appointed her to her current position.
