Jaguar Land Rover will start production of its Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India.For the first time in its 54-year long history, these models will be produced outside Britain. Currently, they are exported from Britain to around 121 markets including India.
New Delhi. Indian car lovers are going to get a big gift soon. The car which has been made in foreign land for the last 5 decades will now start being made in India. The work of bringing it to the country from across the seven seas is being done by none other than Tata, one of the most trusted companies of the country. All the technology of this car will be foreign, but it will be manufactured on Indian soil. This means that this car which was considered foreign till now will now be in front of the people in a desi avatar. Not only this, its price will also be reduced by lakhs of rupees due to its manufacturing in the country.
We are talking about Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which has been bought by Tata and now its cars will be produced in India. According to reports, Jaguar Land Rover will start production of its Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India. For the first time in their 54-year long history, these iconic models will be produced outside Britain. Jaguar Land Rover is owned by Tata Motors. Till now, both these models are produced only at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant in Britain and from there they are exported to about 121 markets globally including India.
The price will be reduced by 22%
The prices of Jaguar cars will also come down drastically as they will be manufactured in the country. According to an estimate, after its production starts in the country, the prices are sure to come down by 18 to 22 percent. The on-road price of the base model of Range Rover in Delhi is Rs 2.74 crore. In this context, its price will come down by 22 percent i.e. about Rs 60 lakh. In this way, the price of the base model will become Rs 2.14 crore in Delhi.
Chairman praised Ratan Tata
Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran praised Tata Sons’ Honorary Chairman Ratan Tata for bringing the JLR brand into the Tata family 15 years ago. He said, ‘Range Rover will be manufactured right here in India, it is a great feeling. This is a very special moment and I feel proud of it. This move will help the company see an increase in sales in the country in the future. There will be more sales, I am confident that the journey ahead will be great.’
Sales have increased by 81 percent
Chandrasekaran said that its manufacturing here indicates how much confidence the company has in this market. JLR India Managing Director Rajan Amba said that local production is a big step for the company to make both the models accessible to a wide class of customers in the country. For the first time in the company’s history, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will now be produced in India. This is a big announcement for us, as these are our flagship vehicles and in their 54-year history, production has been done only at Solihull. JLR India’s retail sales in India in the last financial year 2023-24 stood at 4,436 units, an increase of 81 percent.
