Anwarul Azim was an MP of the ruling Awami League party. He had come to Kolkata for treatment. Azim came to Kolkata on May 12 and went missing on May 13. His daughter tried to contact him, but could not. After this, a case was registered in Dhaka in this regard. Anwarul Azim entered India through the border located in Nadia district at around 2:40 pm on May 12. After this, he went to Mandalpura Lane in Barannagar to meet his friend Gopal Vishwas. He reached the flat located in News Town area of Kolkata on May 13. He had taken the flat on rent.
