Hamas Chief Killed: Last year, on the midnight of 7 October, Hamas terrorists carried out air attacks on Israel. More than 1200 people were killed in this attack. Since this incident, Israel has waged a war against Hamas. The Israeli army and its intelligence agency Mossad are continuously carrying out military action against Hamas in Gaza. Ismail Haniya had come to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President of Iran, when Mossad entered Iran and killed him. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement regarding the death of Ismail Haniya. In a statement issued on Wednesday morning, the army said, “The building in which Ismail Haniya and one of his bodyguards were living was attacked. In this attack, Ismail Haniya’s bodyguard was also killed along with him.”

There was talk of taking revenge for 7 October
A few days after the Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, the chief of the secret agency Mossad, David Barnea, said that his country was committed to eliminating all the major Hamas commanders. David Barnea had warned a day after the killing of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in Lebanon in January this year that Israel would settle accounts with the killers and those who planned the attacks from Gaza on October 7. David Barnea had vowed to track down and kill Hamas leaders.

Barniya joined Mossad in 96, became chief in 2021
David Barnea joined the Mossad in 1996. He commanded operations units in Israel and abroad while in the Zomet Division. For two and a half years, he served as deputy chief of the Keshet Division, whose job is to infiltrate and monitor targets. In 2013, he was appointed head of the Zomet Division. When David Barnea was the chief of the Zomet Division, he was awarded four awards for national security. In 2019, he was appointed deputy chief of the Mossad. In June 2021, he was made the chief of the Mossad. He assumed this position from Yossi Cohen.
Played an important role in the release of hostages
After the start of the war between Hamas and Israel, David Barnea insisted on an agreement with Hamas to ensure the release of Israeli hostages. On November 9, 2023, David Barnea met CIA Director William J. Burns and Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Doha. The possibilities of a ceasefire and the release of hostages were discussed. Apart from CIA chief Burns, David Barnea was also involved in the talks between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding the release of hostages.
David Barnea studied at the Military Boarding School for Command in Tel Aviv and joined the Israeli Army in 1983.
My father had fled from Germany
David Barnea’s father, Joseph Brunner, fled Germany and immigrated to Israel when he was three years old. David Barnea was born in Ashkelon, Israel, and grew up in Rishon LeZion. Joseph fought for the country after joining the Israeli army and then served as a lieutenant colonel. His mother, Naomi, was born in the SS Patria and worked as a teacher and school principal.
He served in the army and later became a business manager.
David Barnea studied at the Military Boarding School for Command in Tel Aviv and joined the Israeli Army, the IDF, in 1983. He did his military service with the General Staff Reconnaissance Regiment. Later he studied in the US. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology and an MBA degree from Pace University. After this, he worked as a business manager in a bank in Israel.
