This time, along with preparing the land database, 2D and 3D pictures of underground and above-ground buildings will be prepared, which can be used by various departments and companies involved in construction in the capital. Drones will be used to prepare this geospatial database.

To prepare this database, data of underground assets like drains, sewers, water pipes and power lines will be collected. Similarly, data and location of buildings, boundaries, power cables, bus and metro networks, schools, hospitals, markets, community buildings and other religious institutions like temples, mosques, gurudwaras and churches will also be collected in this database.

what is its purpose
The government has decided to upgrade Delhi’s land database again and upload 2D and 3D images along with including more accurate information in it. Its purpose is to update integrated application services like Google Maps or other similar internet related services and make the information available in high resolution. For this work, a company named Geospatial Delhi Limited (GSDL) was formed in 2008. Now this company will further upgrade this database using the latest technology.

Where will it start from
The official associated with the matter says that at present it is being started as a pilot project. Initially, an area of ​​26 square kilometers of Mehrauli, Masoodpur and Rangpuri villages will be covered. All this data will be covered in 2D and 3D with high resolution. Its size will be 5 centimeters horizontal and 15 centimeters vertical.

Where will it be used
The database will be used by various departments, agencies and authorities of the Delhi government with various application modules. Geologists as well as IT professionals will be involved in preparing this database. Based on this data, help will be taken in deciding the routes of buses and upgrading the drainage or sewer system. Along with this, it will also help in the proper use of Delhi’s land resources.
